The Smart City Hub has been launched at the ongoing Africa Smart Cities Investment Summit (ASCIS) happening from the 6th to 8th, August, 2023 at Kigali Convention Center in Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The hub\u2019s objective is to \u2018facilitate and drive efficient sustainable digital solutions that improve the quality of life for citizens and communities in Rwanda through technology and innovation\u2019. <\/p>\n

The Mayor of Kigali City, Pudence Rubingisa emphasized the global trend of a growing urban population, highlighting the imperative to align investments with effective solutions that address the concerns of citizens.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of Innovation and ICT, Paula Musoni, the hub is not going to be merely a physical space, but a hub where ideas, collaboration, creativity, and co-creation will live. <\/p>\n

In addition, she stated, the hub will serve as a catalyst for increased citizen impactful innovations.<\/p>\n

In 2017, the Government of Rwanda ambitioned to transform the nation into a collection of smart cities and communities through the launch of the \u2018Rwanda Smart City Master Plan\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Smart City Hub will entail; renewable energy and infrastructure (sustainable energy supply, affordable housing, public private partnerships and investment, construction technology and building materials), water and waste management (sustainable water resources management, reduce-reuse-recycle, tackling air pollution), mobility and hospitality (sustainable urbanisation), digital transformation and innovation, resilience and climate adaptation.<\/p>\n
