{"id":4879,"date":"2012-12-30T10:06:53","date_gmt":"2012-12-30T10:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/al-qaeda-offers-bounty-for-us-ambassador\/"},"modified":"2012-12-30T10:05:22","modified_gmt":"2012-12-30T10:05:22","slug":"al-qaeda-offers-bounty-for-us-ambassador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/al-qaeda-offers-bounty-for-us-ambassador\/","title":{"rendered":"Al-Qaeda Offers Bounty for US Ambassador"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{Al-Qaida&#8217;s branch in Yemen has offered to pay tens of thousands of dollars to anyone who kills the U.S. ambassador in Sanaa or an American soldier in the country.}}<\/p>\n<p>An audio produced by the group&#8217;s media arm, the al-Malahem Foundation, and posted on militant websites Saturday said it offered three kilograms of gold, worth $160,000, for killing the ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>The group said it will pay 5 million Yemeni riyals ($23,000) to anyone who kills an American soldier inside Yemen.<\/p>\n<p>It said the offer is valid for six months.<\/p>\n<p>The bounties were set to &#8220;inspire and encourage our Muslim nation for jihad,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Embassy in Sanaa did not respond to an Associated Press phone call asking for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Washington considers al-Qaida in Yemen to be the group&#8217;s most dangerous branch.<\/p>\n<p>The group overran entire towns and villages last year by taking advantage of a security lapse during nationwide protests that eventually ousted the country&#8217;s longtime ruler.
