Overwhelmed by fear, the 16-year-old clung tightly to his rescuer, ultimately leading to the unfortunate demise of both children.<\/p>\n<p>The distressing incident came to light when a 5-year-old child, who had accompanied them but refrained from swimming, reported the tragedy to their parents. Local authorities were immediately notified, and a search operation was launched. However, as of press time on Monday morning, the bodies of the victims had yet to be recovered.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e9ogratias Rutayisire, the executive secretary of Kigeyo Sector, has expressed his condolences and confirmed that the drowning occurred on Sunday at approximately 13:00.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-57829\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/abana_babiri_barohamye_mu_kiyaga_cya_kivu-3eb54.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{Two young children aged 9 and 19 respectively have drowned while swimming in Lake Kivu.
