The UNMISS Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Support Col Jeet Gurung on behalf of the Acting Force Commander presented and decorated Medals to Rwandan Battalion.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, he thanked the Government of RWANDA for contributing troops to UNMISS and appreciated a commendable job the Battalion has been doing for the past eight months in the mission.<\/p>\n
Col Andrew KAGAME, the Rwandan Contingent Commander said that the battalion did immensely in ensuring security to the people of South Sudan and also carried out various activities (Quick Impact Projects) to assist local Community in various areas like and more especially Engineering and Construction activities: <\/p>\n
construction of a bridge (Duma) in Tambura, Western Equatorial State, distribution of 420 hoes to local population of Tambura and Torit Western and Eastern Equatorial States, daily distribution of water in the Health Centers and Hospitals in Tambura (Western Equatorial State) where there is scarcity of water, leveling of a field on which a Secondary School was built in Tambura (Western Equatorial State),leveling of a new market in the town of Yambio (Western Equatorial State).<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by Senior UNMISS officials, Military and Police Components and also members of Rwandan Community living in South Sudan.<\/p>\n
The Rwanda Defence Force begun to deploy in South Sudan as part of a newly created UN-backed stabilisation mission (UNMISS) in April 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
