“The Regional Tourism has also increased because vacationers or people who come for business have increased,” said Ms. Rica Rwigamba, Deputy Director General in charge of Tourism in the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).<\/p>\n
She added that the strategy is to increase the number of people who come to Rwanda on vacation and that will have an impact on revenues.<\/p>\n
Rica said total visitors last year represent 40% of revenue.<\/p>\n
“We believe it is necessary to increase the number of people who come to Rwanda and allow them to stay longer in the country, “she noted.<\/p>\n
Assistant DG of Tourism said that Rwanda has welcomed 800,122 visitors in total from January to September 2012. <\/p>\n
This corresponds to an increase of 28% compared to 2011, where in the same period, the country had 623,843 visitors.<\/p>\n
