IGIHE has learnt that the driver handed over control of the bus to a colleague following a search at the Kagitumba border. The second driver allegedly drove at high speed and subsequently crashed into a tree near the road, causing the bus to derail.<\/p>\n
Nyagatare District Vice Mayor for Social Affairs, Juliet Murekatete has told IGIHE that three people died in the accident, and 29 others were injured. <\/p>\n
“Following the incident, we rushed 34 survivors to a nearby health center, of whom 29 were later transferred to Nyagatare District Hospital,” she said.<\/p>\n
