{"id":47011,"date":"2022-11-10T11:18:42","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T11:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/minister-of-local-government-gatabazi-relieved-of-his-duties\/"},"modified":"2022-11-11T14:37:14","modified_gmt":"2022-11-11T14:37:14","slug":"minister-of-local-government-gatabazi-relieved-of-his-duties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/minister-of-local-government-gatabazi-relieved-of-his-duties\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister of Local Government, Gatabazi relieved of his duties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gatabazi has held the position since March 2021.  <\/p>\n<p>The appointment has been announced through a communiqu\u00e9 released by the Office of Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPursuant to the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003 revised in 2015, especially in its article 116; Today, the 10th November 2022, His Excellency The President has appointed Mr. Jean Claude Musabyimana, Minister of Local Government,\u201d reads the statement.  <\/p>\n<p>The communiqu\u00e9 does not mention the reason why Gatabazi has been removed from his position. However, President Kagame recently pointed out leaders including Gatabazi who used their power for personal gains.   <\/p>\n<p>The head of state hinted at the issue during a recent Political Bureau of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) Inkotanyi held at Intare Conference Arena in October 2022.  <\/p>\n<p>At the time, Gatabazi apologized but was warned of possible punishment.  <\/p>\n<p>It is not the first time that Gatabazi apologizes for committed mistakes.  <\/p>\n<p>In 2020, he was suspended from his position as the Governor of Northern Province \u2018owing to matters of accountability under investigation\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>He was pardoned after an apology and later appointed Minister of Local Government.   <\/p>\n<p>Gatabazi had become Minister of Local Government in March last year replacing Prof. Anastase Shyaka who was later named Rwanda\u2019s envoy to Poland.   <\/p>\n<p>Prior to the appointment, Gatabazi served as a Member of Parliament and Governor of Northern Province.  <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Musabyimana who succeeds Gatabazi has over 15 years of working experience as a Lecturer and local Government Agent.  <\/p>\n<p>He has been serving as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI). <\/p>\n<p>Musabyimana had previously worked as the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Lands and Forestry (MINILAF) between 2017 and 2018. <\/p>\n<p>In 2016-2017, he was appointed as Governor for the Northern Province after serving as the Mayor for Musanze District, Northern Province and Deputy Mayor in Charge of Economic Development of the same district between 2015 and 2016. <\/p>\n<p>Musabyimana holds Master\u2019s degree in Agricultural Hydrology obtained from the University of Agronomic Sciences and Biological Engineering in Gembloux, Belgium. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-45155 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/gati.jpg\" alt=\"Gatabazi has been relieved of his duties as the Minister of Local Government. \" \/><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-45156 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/strong.jpg\" alt=\"Musabyimana has been serving as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources. \" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{President Paul Kagame has relieved Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi of his duties as the Minister of Local Government and appointed Jean Claude Musabyimana to replace him.} <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":62,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[72,75],"byline":[170],"hashtag":[],"class_list":["post-47011","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-featured-news-home","tag-homenews","byline-igihe"],"bylines":[{"id":170,"name":"IGIHE","slug":"igihe","description":"","image":{"id":0,"url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/?s=96&d=mm&f=y&r=g","alt":"Default avatar","title":"Default avatar","caption":"","mime_type":"image\/jpeg","sizes":[]},"user_id":8}],"contributors":[{"id":170,"name":"IGIHE","slug":"igihe","description":"","image":{"id":0,"url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/?s=96&d=mm&f=y&r=g","alt":"Default avatar","title":"Default avatar","caption":"","mime_type":"image\/jpeg","sizes":[]},"user_id":8}],"featured_image":null,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/47011","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/62"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=47011"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/47011\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=47011"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=47011"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=47011"},{"taxonomy":"byline","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/byline?post=47011"},{"taxonomy":"hashtag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hashtag?post=47011"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
