For instance, Biryogo in Nyamirambo is among places that have got a facelift with new tarmac roads and other infrastructures that have given it a new look and positioned it as a favourable place for investment. <\/p>\n

The latter is part of ongoing efforts to beautify Kigali City and make it a safer place for dwellers. <\/p>\n

In this fiscal year, the City of Kigali plans to build 10 roads covering 70 kilometers where Rwf10 billion will be allocated for expropriation of 2000 residents. <\/p>\n

On the other hand, Nyabugogo Bus Terminal which serves as a carrefour for buses from all provinces of Rwanda seems to be in a sorry state that it needs rehabilitation in line with the fast growing infrastructure upgrade in the City of Kigali.<\/p>\n

In November 2017, Kigali City announced plan to rehabilitate the Nyabugogo Bus Terminal. The project had to begin in 2018 but implementation has not started up to date.<\/p>\n

Kigali City says that it is working on the project to upgrade the taxi park with the World Bank which will provide funding. <\/p>\n

Kigali City Engineer, Emmanuel Asaba Katabarwa has told IGIHE that Nyabugogo Bus Terminal is part of a large project requiring huge funds. <\/p>\n

Discussions have been completed pending further consultations to determine sources of funds to make the study. <\/p>\n

The project comprises a multilevel bus terminal where passengers\u2019 waiting shelters, parking for public buses will be separated from restaurants and shops. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe project will give magnificence to the City of Kigali. That is why we make thorough planning for smooth implementation,\u201d Eng Katabarwa said. <\/p>\n

The project including the rehabilitation of places adjacent to Nyabugogo Bus Terminal will cost Rwf100 billion. It will also cover the upgrade of nearby junctures to enable smooth movement of vehicles. <\/p>\n

Eng. Katabarwa said that discussions have been ongoing for a year where concerned parties agreed on activities to be carried out. He also disclosed that making the project’s feasibility study might begin in the near future. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey are set to provide funds to make the study that will not last for less than six months to be followed by agreements with engineers to begin construction works,\u201d he noted. <\/p>\n

Inaugurated in 1998, Nyabugogo Bus Terminal is among strategic locations for businesses over serving as a passage for intra-city movements, movements to provinces or to Kigali.<\/p>\n
