{"id":46315,"date":"2022-08-08T10:13:31","date_gmt":"2022-08-08T10:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/petrol-diesel-prices-in-rwanda-increase-by-more-than-rwf100\/"},"modified":"2022-08-11T10:12:01","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T10:12:01","slug":"petrol-diesel-prices-in-rwanda-increase-by-more-than-rwf100","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/petrol-diesel-prices-in-rwanda-increase-by-more-than-rwf100\/","title":{"rendered":"Petrol, diesel prices in Rwanda increase by more than Rwf100"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The prices will go into effect for two months from 8th August 2022.  <\/p>\n<p>The rise in fuel prices saw the cost of diesel increasing by Rwf104 from Rwf1503 while the price of petrol rose by Rwf149 from Rwf1460.  <\/p>\n<p>Speaking to RTV on Sunday, the Minister of Infrastructure, Dr. Ernest Nsabimana revealed that the prices would have gone much higher hadn\u2019t it been the government\u2019s subsidy program.  <\/p>\n<p>He said that government injected almost Rwf10 billion to subsidize prices.   <\/p>\n<p>Hadn\u2019t it been the subsidy, the price of diesel would be set at Rwf1757, an increase by Rwf254 while a liter of petrol would be set at Rwf1767, an increase by Rwf307. <\/p>\n<p>Minister Nsabimana said that fuel prices continued to rise owing to effects of the war between Russia and Ukraine. <\/p>\n<p>At the onset of the war in February this year, a liter of diesel was set at US$0.57 and increased to US$0.97 in July.  <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Nsabimana said that the increase in price in countries with natural reserves went in parallel with the cost of transport and insurance but expressed optimism that they might reduce gradually.    <\/p>\n<p>He revealed that the rise will not affect the price of public transport. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-43616 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/aprice-f9617.jpg\" alt=\"The Government of Rwanda has announced revised fuel prices to go into effect from 8th August 2022.  \" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{The Ministry of Infrastructure has announced revised fuel prices where a liter of diesel is set at Rwf1607 while petrol costs Rwf1609 per liter.
