The Institute has released \u201cA Citizen\u2019s Handbook on Taxation in Kenya\u201d, a 50 page publication that attempts to break down the country\u2019s complex tax system into a user friendly form for use by the average citizen.<\/p>\n
The Institute\u2019s CEO Kwame Owino emphasised that the country\u2019s taxation system is far too complicated and pushed for the government to simply the process.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur tax system is far too complicated for the level of incomes that we have. It\u2019s far too complicated for people to actually adhere to all those taxes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven Kenya\u2019s private sectors, who have all manners of tax accountants and people to advise them, still think that our tax system is too complicated. <\/p>\n
Maybe simplicity should be the overriding principal, but at the same time taxes need to be raised in order to pay for all the things that we do,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
