{"id":4603,"date":"2012-12-13T03:16:22","date_gmt":"2012-12-13T03:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/uganda-plans-forced-hiv-test-for-all\/"},"modified":"2012-12-13T03:15:38","modified_gmt":"2012-12-13T03:15:38","slug":"uganda-plans-forced-hiv-test-for-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/uganda-plans-forced-hiv-test-for-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda Plans Forced HIV Test For All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{Uganda has announced plans to forcefully conduct HIV tests on anyone visitng a health center.}}<\/p>\n<p>Its reported that anyone who visits a health centre or hospital for treatment will be required to undergo an HIV test if Health Ministry officials get approval for a new plan.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Alex Ario, the HIV\/Aids control programme manager at the ministry, said the new \u2018Know your Status\u2019 policy is in response to an increase in HIV prevalence in the country. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople who know their status are unlikely to engage in risky behaviour,\u201d Dr Ario said. \u201cThe important question is: What do we lose if everybody is tested?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HIV testing is currently voluntary.
