{"id":45498,"date":"2022-03-22T10:00:05","date_gmt":"2022-03-22T10:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/the-world-i-dream-of-on-women-s-day\/"},"modified":"2022-03-25T05:07:43","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T05:07:43","slug":"the-world-i-dream-of-on-women-s-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/the-world-i-dream-of-on-women-s-day\/","title":{"rendered":"The World I Dream of, on Women\u2019s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{On days like these,<br \/>\nI find solace in hope, perspective in wonder,<br \/>\nFor the present is hardly perfect. <\/p>\n<p>We are born knowing that women<br \/>\nAre resilient, perhaps to a fault.<br \/>\nTo nurture and protect, they will move a mountain,<br \/>\nEven hungry, they will feed the world.<\/p>\n<p>So when I see the strength of a woman,<br \/>\nWhose spine is stout, whose back is sturdy,<br \/>\nAdorned in bold and splendid fabrics,<br \/>\nStrain hidden beneath grace and beauty,<br \/>\nI also see all the ravages of time,<br \/>\nIn painting her pain as her crown of glory.<br \/>\nWhy should that woman navigate,<br \/>\nBetween indifference and victimization?<br \/>\nWhy must we submit to a yearly date,<br \/>\nTo condemn female degradation? Why?<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, I imagine a world different from this present one.<br \/>\nIt is a shame how often we stifle imagination,<br \/>\nYet imagination,<br \/>\nis the lyric of an irrepressible spirit.<br \/>\nWhere creativity and art once collided,<br \/>\nOur nation\u2019s offspring were once serenaded,<br \/>\n\u201cUkuranye ituze<br \/>\nUkuranye ubwiza<br \/>\nUkaba n&#8217;ingenzi koko\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What if we, like dreamers,<br \/>\nAllowed our minds to roam the vast expanse,<br \/>\nJust for a little, hearts wide open,<br \/>\nTo reverie, to a poem. <\/p>\n<p>With my eyes closed I see, bright as day,<br \/>\nA just, a fair<br \/>\nAn equal,<br \/>\nAnd a very kind world,<br \/>\nIn which prejudice has passed, bias was driven far away!<br \/>\nAnd in this world of even care, I see &#8230;<br \/>\nA Woman and a girl, claim their fair share,<br \/>\nOf promise, of prism and of power,<br \/>\nAcknowledged and fostered. <\/p>\n<p>I find solace and hope in wonder.<br \/>\nPerhaps you\u2019d care to join me? <\/p>\n<p>Le monde que j\u2019imagine a appris de nos erreurs,<br \/>\nIl soigne les blessures caus\u00e9es par nos \u00e9checs.<br \/>\nIl ne connait le dur d\u00e9sir de dominance,<br \/>\nQui aime pour victimes femmes et enfants,<br \/>\nCelui qui semble toujours vivre aujourd\u2019hui,<br \/>\nDans un coin enfoui de nos coeurs.<\/p>\n<p>Et si ce monde pour lequel nous prions,<br \/>\nD\u00e9pendait de nos pr\u00e9sentes actions;<br \/>\nEt si nous refusions enfin de tol\u00e9rer,<br \/>\nQu\u2019une femme de plus soit abandonn\u00e9e,<br \/>\nAu bord d\u2019une route qu\u2019elle aujourd\u2019hui balaye,<br \/>\nEt un jour construit,<br \/>\nEn offrant,<br \/>\nEperdument,<br \/>\nSueur, amour, et vie.<\/p>\n<p>Bari, Bategarugori.<br \/>\nMuri benimpuhwe,<br \/>\nMuri Indangamirwa.<\/p>\n<p>Quand je me laisse un peu r\u00eaver,<br \/>\nLes femmes que nous c\u00e9l\u00e9brons ce mois-ci,<br \/>\nont leurs efforts et vertus,<br \/>\nAppr\u00e9ci\u00e9s ; reconnus,<br \/>\nTout au long de l\u2019ann\u00e9e. <\/p>\n<p>The world I dream of  on Women\u2019s Day,<br \/>\nIs one of empowered women and vocal allies<br \/>\nWho together, keep prejudice at bay,<br \/>\nUnited in mission, by humanity\u2019s ties.<\/p>\n<p>To the fathers that have been rocks,<br \/>\nThat have given their daughters steady support,<br \/>\nTo the brothers that have honoured their sisters,<br \/>\nAs they braved a sometimes frightening, negligent world,<br \/>\nYou are a pride to your mothers and we salute you!<br \/>\nMay your conviction never falter,<br \/>\nMay you never abuse your power,<br \/>\nFor History observes, History judges, History remembers.<br \/>\nDemandons-nous sans crainte ou retenue:<br \/>\nDuhanikire icyarimwe tuti: <\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Uri Mwiza Mama!
