{"id":45049,"date":"2021-12-30T09:12:11","date_gmt":"2021-12-30T09:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/waiting-time-for-covid-19-booster-vaccine-dose-reduced-to-three-months\/"},"modified":"2022-01-02T10:05:37","modified_gmt":"2022-01-02T10:05:37","slug":"waiting-time-for-covid-19-booster-vaccine-dose-reduced-to-three-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/waiting-time-for-covid-19-booster-vaccine-dose-reduced-to-three-months\/","title":{"rendered":"Waiting time for COVID-19 booster vaccine dose reduced to three months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The dose was previously administered to fully vaccinated recipients after six months.  <\/p>\n<p>The State Minister in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tharcisse Mpunga has told IGIHE that the third dose might strengthen immunity amidst the high rise of new COVID-19 cases.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision was taken following fast spread of the virus among vaccinated people,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cReceiving the booster dose will increase immunity against Omicron,\u201d Dr. Mpunga added.  <\/p>\n<p>Research shows that the third booster dose may strengthen immunity against Omicron variant of COVID-19.  <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mpunga has also revealed that the immunity of people who received the first dose of AstaZeneca dose is very low.  <\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt has been observed AstraZenena offers low immunity against Omicron compared to other variants of COVID-19.
