{"id":44665,"date":"2021-10-22T10:20:15","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T10:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/two-suspects-in-kizito-mihigo-case-sentenced-one-acquitted\/"},"modified":"2021-10-27T07:06:37","modified_gmt":"2021-10-27T07:06:37","slug":"two-suspects-in-kizito-mihigo-case-sentenced-one-acquitted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/two-suspects-in-kizito-mihigo-case-sentenced-one-acquitted\/","title":{"rendered":"Two suspects in Kizito Mihigo case convicted, one acquitted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ruling was read on Friday 22nd October 2021.  <\/p>\n<p>The trio has been accused of conspiracy in illegal border crossing crime, and helping Kizito to bribe his way out.<\/p>\n<p>Plans to flee the country started in January 2020, one month before Kizito was arrested.  <\/p>\n<p>It is said that the house help of Kizito dragged Nhayabahiga into the case to provide support while Harerimana was hired to intervene as a driver.  <\/p>\n<p>Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), on 13th February 2021, announced that he was arrested in Nyaruguru district.  <\/p>\n<p>The day Kizito\u2019s attempt to escape was foiled; residents said that they saw him taking cover in a forest located in the vicinity of the border between Rwanda and Burundi. <\/p>\n<p>Kizito had been arrested in 2014 and handed 10-year sentence in 2015.
