The ceremony took place at Greenwich Hotel on 5th September 2021 and was attended by the Assistant District Governor, Dr. Jean d\u2019Amour Manirere , the Executive Secretary of District 9150 Rotary International, Jeannette Rugera and the President of the Rotary Club Kigali Virunga, Suman Alla among others.<\/p>\n

Rotaract Club of KIE is among four Rotaract clubs working with seven Rotary Clubs Rwanda.<\/p>\n

The outgoing President of Rotaract Club of KIE, Kacheche urged his successor to prioritize projects that are impactful and beneficial to the Rwandan community.<\/p>\n

Mihigo pledged to capitalize lessons from COVID-19 to deliver on efficiency.<\/p>\n

\u201cProviding school fees for children, building kitchen gardens for residents to prevent malnutrition, sensitizing people to take vaccines, donating blood and implementing environmental management and conservation projects will be our main priorities in this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Manirere also urged Mihigo to work hard to increase the club\u2019s members and consolidate gains.<\/p>\n

Rotary club is an organization purposed to bring together businesses and professionals to provide humanitarian services as well as providing support in addressing problems facing the world by combating illiteracy and poverty, contributing to the provision of safe water, enhancing economic and community development, handling disputes and fighting disease.<\/p>\n

Rotary Club is classified into three categories including Interact Club made of children members in the age bracket between 12 and 18, Rotaract Club bringing together members from the university in the age bracket between 18 and 25 while people aged beyond 25 are classified in the category of Rotary Club.<\/p>\n

Rotary Club International was established 116 years ago. It is currently comprised of 1.2 million members from 200 countries.<\/p>\n

In Rwanda, the organization has 157 members from seven clubs including Rotary Club Kigali Doyen, Mont Jali, Musanze Murera, Butare, Gasabo, Kigali-Virunga and Bugoyi Ibirunga.<\/p>\n

These clubs get new leaders every year on rotational basis.<\/p>\n

Normally, members meet once every week to discuss development projects but they have switched to virtual meetings due to ongoing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n
