{"id":44077,"date":"2021-08-05T15:56:05","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T15:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-car-commit-to-cement-bilateral-ties\/"},"modified":"2021-08-07T07:13:12","modified_gmt":"2021-08-07T07:13:12","slug":"rwanda-car-commit-to-cement-bilateral-ties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-car-commit-to-cement-bilateral-ties\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda, CAR commit to cement bilateral ties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These agreements were signed this afternoon in the areas of mining, transport development, security and economic development.  <\/p>\n<p>After witnessing the signing of agreements, Kagame and Touad\u00e9ra highlighted that both countries have built strong ties.  <\/p>\n<p>In a joint press conference, Kagame said that Rwanda has been happy to join hands with people of Central African Republic, in pursuit of peace, reconciliation and prosperity. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe signing of these agreements and the joint communiqu\u00e9 will serve to further cement our bilateral ties and deliver on the immense potential for the social economic transformation of our nations,\u201d he stated.  <\/p>\n<p>Kagame also emphasized that sustained cooperation across the continent \u2018is essential for all of us to be able to succeed\u2019.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda is committed to expand our strategic partnership with tangible results in the years ahead,\u201d he affirmed.   <\/p>\n<p>President Touad\u00e9ra also thanked Kagame for inviting him to Rwanda noting that it is of great significance to both countries\u2019 relations.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis visit is a testament of cordial relations between Central African Republic and Rwanda,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>Touad\u00e9ra stressed that the people of CAR and Rwanda share common ambitions adding that his visit to Kigali is an opportunity to further strengthen relations and exchange ideas in priority areas.  <\/p>\n<p>Among others, Touad\u00e9ra thanked Rwandans and Kagame for contribution to restore peace, security and economy in his country.  <\/p>\n<p>He also told Rwandans that CAR is open for investments in different areas. <\/p>\n<p>Touad\u00e9ra arrived in Rwanda today for four-day working visit.  <\/p>\n<p>During his stay in Rwanda, Touad\u00e9ra will visit the Campaign Against Genocide Museum located at Parliament before being hosted at a State Banquet.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday 6th August 2021, Touad\u00e9ra will visit the Kinigi IDP Model Village, which was inaugurated on 4th July 2021.  The model village consists of homes for 144 families, a secondary school, an Early Childhood Development Center (ECD), health center and other facilities. <\/p>\n<p>Touad\u00e9ra will also tour several conservation and eco-tourism destinations before his departure on 8th August.<\/p>\n<p>Rwanda and CAR have been for long enjoying cordial relations whereby Rwanda is helping the country engulfed by wars to restore peace. Rwandan troops have been deployed to CAR peacekeeping mission since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>On 20th December 2020, Rwanda deployed more special forces to CAR under existing bilateral cooperation signed in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of Touad\u00e9ra\u2019s visit, Rwanda started the deployment of an additional Infantry Battalion of 750 military personnel on Tuesday 3rd August 2021 to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA).<\/p>\n<p>CAR covers a land area of about 620,000 square kilometres and has an estimated population of around 4.7 million. As of 2020, the country was the scene of a civil war, ongoing since 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The Central African Republic\u2019s economy is based primarily on subsistence agriculture, with important mining and timber industries the main source of export earnings.<\/p>\n<p>Diamonds are the country\u2019s most profitable export, while agriculture occupies most of its working population.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers grow cotton, coffee, and tobacco for export and crops for local markets, but economic development is handicapped by the CAR\u2019s landlocked position, limited infrastructure, and the low education of its work-force.
