The incident took place on Thursday 29th July 2021 in Nyarutunga II village, Rwimishinya cell in Rukara sector.<\/p>\n
The Executive Secretary of Rukara sector, Immacul\u00e9e Nyirabizeyimana has told IGIHE that the girl who didn\u2019t have enough skills drowned in Cyabatanzi pond before fetching water. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe girl went to fetch water from Cyabitanzi pond along with other children. Arriving there, the girl joined her colleagues who started swimming but drowned in a while as she was not familiar with the exercise. Residents rushed for rescue but their efforts ended in vain,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
Nyirabizeyimana has revealed that they plan to fence off all ponds in the sector to avoid similar incidents where two children have died under similar circumstances within two weeks. <\/p>\n
