{{The United Nations (UN) has pledged to continue supporting Rwanda National Police (RNP) in its capacity building and other programmes.}}<\/p>\n
In an interview, Lamin Momodou Manneh, the UN Resident Coordinator said that the international body will continue to support various police\u2019s programmes in order to execute its duties professionally.<\/p>\n
This was during his visit to the police headquarters in Kacyiru where he met with the Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana and discussed various issues, including reviewing the police activities supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the UN system, we are committed to continuing our collaboration with Rwanda Police and we have reassured the IGP that we will continue to support police in various ways,\u201d Lamin, who is also the UNDP Resident Representative, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have appointed a team of experts, with effective next week, to review our portfolio and work-out new programmes in line with the emerging situation and orientations, where we can further offer support,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He commended Rwandan peacekeepers, both police and military, for the professionalism they exhibit while on missions.<\/p>\n
Rwanda maintains about 500 police peacekeepers in seven missions and 3000 Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) troops in Darfur.<\/p>\n
