{"id":43521,"date":"2021-05-14T11:52:20","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T11:52:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/cimerwa-plc-remembers-former-employees-killed-in-genocide\/"},"modified":"2021-05-14T11:53:39","modified_gmt":"2021-05-14T11:53:39","slug":"cimerwa-plc-remembers-former-employees-killed-in-genocide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/cimerwa-plc-remembers-former-employees-killed-in-genocide\/","title":{"rendered":"Cimerwa Plc remembers former employees killed during Genocide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The event held yesterday started with a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial before paying tribute to 64 former employees killed during Genocide at the plant\u2019s headquarters in Rusizi district, Western Province.  <\/p>\n<p>The delegation that visited Kigali Genocide Memorial was led by Roland Van Wijnen, the CEO of Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) Ltd, one of the leading cement companies in South Africa which acquired 51 percent stake in Cimerwa and the CEO of Cimerwa Plc, Albert Sigei.<\/p>\n<p>Roland Van Wijnen highlighted that telling the truth will be a weapon to defeat propagandists misinterpreting Genocide history. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cVisiting Genocide memorials helps us to reflect on the past, learn from historical reality because there are many people misinterpreting what happened in Rwanda.  I would like to stress the need to scale up efforts to preserve genocide memorials, which is a crucial aspect to unity and reconciliation journey,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>Roland stated that other countries should learn from Rwanda\u2019s resilience and attained transformations after the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.   <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am visiting Rwanda for the third time.  I am very impressed by the country\u2019s constant progress.
