{"id":43419,"date":"2021-05-01T07:21:20","date_gmt":"2021-05-01T07:21:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/covid-19-over-16-000-new-cases-recorded-in-four-months\/"},"modified":"2021-05-01T05:36:44","modified_gmt":"2021-05-01T05:36:44","slug":"covid-19-over-16-000-new-cases-recorded-in-four-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/covid-19-over-16-000-new-cases-recorded-in-four-months\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: Over 16,000 new cases recorded in four months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The statement released last night shows that two people have succumbed to COVID-19, 121 caught the virus, 28 recovered while 3 are critically ill. <\/p>\n<p>The deceased are two men aged 60 and 83 respectively from Huye and Kigali.  <\/p>\n<p>Since the pandemic emerged in Rwanda on 14th March 2020, a total of 23 234 patients have recovered, 1547 are active cases while 335 have succumbed to the virus.  <\/p>\n<p>Coronavirus symptoms include coughing, flu, and difficulty in breathing. The virus is said to be transmitted through the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.<\/p>\n<p>Rwandans are urged to adhere to COVID-19 health guidelines, washing hands frequently using soaps and safe water, wearing face masks and respecting social distancing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{The Ministry of Health has reported that 25 116 people have caught COVID-19 since the pandemic emerged in Rwanda.
