{"id":42033,"date":"2020-09-18T06:50:23","date_gmt":"2020-09-18T06:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/border-residents-warned-against-smuggling-from-drc\/"},"modified":"2020-09-18T06:32:13","modified_gmt":"2020-09-18T06:32:13","slug":"border-residents-warned-against-smuggling-from-drc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/border-residents-warned-against-smuggling-from-drc\/","title":{"rendered":"Border residents warned against smuggling from DRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The message came a week after Cyiza Jean, a former security guard was stabbed to death by smugglers who hunted him down because he reported them to the authorities and cause their arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Gasirimu Jean Damasc\u00e8ne, a resident of the Congo Valley, where smugglers pass says the cause of Cyiza Jean\u2019s murder is cannabis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cause of everything is cannabis because even the deceased and his colleague were being hinted for days to be killed because they claimed to be causing them losses after taking their cannabis worth Rwf 9 million,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Capt. Uzabakiriho Desire, Commander of the Busasamana Sector in the Valley, urged people to refrain from smuggling as serious measures will be taken against the culprits.<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Secretary of the Busasamana Sector, Nsabimana Mvano Etienne told the public that serious measures had been taken against the smugglers through the valley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are people who have benefited from this border, those who passed through Gisenyi have now moved here. I urge you to stop because we have taken strong action in collaboration with the police and the army, you will never see these motorcycles again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the night of September 8, 2020, at around 7:00 am, Cyiza Jean, 38, a resident of Munege Village, Rusura Cell, Busasamana Sector, was stabbed to death by criminals.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased was a security guard in the village.
