The development was announced on Wednesday where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Rwanda Writers Federation and UNESCO in Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Richard Ategekimana, head of the Rwanda Writers’ Union, said that the MoU will improve the quality of books in Rwanda and the lives of writers in general.<\/p>\n

Ategekimana said that the main focus will be on training writers, sponsoring writers \u2019books, working together to develop writers\u2019 projects, and working together to promote the culture of writing and reading books.<\/p>\n

UNESCO Secretary General in Rwanda Albert Mutesa said that the agreement would help them work with the Writers’ Union, especially as cultural development is one of the responsibilities of the organization it represents.<\/p>\n

The Rwanda Writers’ Union was created to bring together book authors in Rwanda and to come up with projects that will help them develop a profitable publishing industry.<\/p>\n

The association is composed of organizations including the Rwanda Writers Organization, Rwanda Authors for Change Organization, and the Rwanda Young Writers Organization.<\/p>\n
