{"id":40205,"date":"2019-10-18T15:24:38","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T15:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/nyamwasa-henchman-major-mudathiru-pleads-guilty\/"},"modified":"2019-10-18T15:24:29","modified_gmt":"2019-10-18T15:24:29","slug":"nyamwasa-henchman-major-mudathiru-pleads-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/nyamwasa-henchman-major-mudathiru-pleads-guilty\/","title":{"rendered":"Nyamwasa henchman Major Mudathiru pleads guilty, apologizes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mudathiru is one of 25 RNC combatants arrested recently in the Democratic Republic of Congo and arraigned in the Military Tribunal in Nyamirambo.<\/p>\n<p>The group comprises of members from Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and one Tanzanian-born with Malawi nationality.<\/p>\n<p>All the 25 suspects were charged with four counts, namely; being part of an unlawful military outfit, treason, forming an illegal military outfit, and conniving with foreign countries to destabilize Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>Mudathiru admitted charges this Friday as he and co-accused recently repatriated from DRC appeared in the Military Tribunal in Nyamirambo for hearing.<br \/>\nMudathiru pleaded guilty of all the counts but explained that the rebel group\u2019s plans were not executed.   <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI apologize for that,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Mudathiru\u2019s defense lawyer, Paola requested the beginning of the client\u2019s trial in depth without remand period since the client pleaded guilty of counts cited by the prosecution.  <\/p>\n<p>Prosecution explained that court procedures must be determined by laws.<br \/>\nOther co-accused said they were promised job opportunities like driving, health care and mining among others to seduce them and later diveted into joining P5. <\/p>\n<p>Retired army Major Habib Madhatiru, 53, is a former officer in the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF).
