{"id":40114,"date":"2019-10-02T13:02:22","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T13:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kenyans-living-in-rwanda-join-kbs-staff-for\/"},"modified":"2019-10-02T12:56:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T12:56:17","slug":"kenyans-living-in-rwanda-join-kbs-staff-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kenyans-living-in-rwanda-join-kbs-staff-for\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenyans living in Rwanda join KBS staff for monthly community work at Nyanza memorial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The community work conducted on Saturday was characterized by clearing bushes near the Nyanza genocide memorial. <\/p>\n<p>After the community work, KBS Ltd donated Rwf 300,000 for maintenance of the memorial.<\/p>\n<p>The team was taken through the history of Nyanza memorial, the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and reminded on heinous killings of Tutsi who sought refuge at ETO-Kicukiro as well as others brought from Amahoro Stadium, among other places, to be killed there.  <\/p>\n<p>The president of IBUKA at Nyanza memorial, Ngabo Brave Olivier, said that in the Nyanza memorial are resting about 12,000 genocide victims that were taken from ETO- Kicukiro after they were abandoned by the UN army.<\/p>\n<p>Kenyans that were present, after hearing the history, promised to make sure that what happened in the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda never happens anywhere else on earth. <\/p>\n<p>Ephantus Wanderi, one of the participants said; \u201cwhat happened in Rwanda is outrageous, it was important to be here joining Rwandan people and the survivors to remember the victims of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi. We should all make sure that this never happens again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The leader of the Kenyan community living in Rwanda, Boniface Mutua, said \u201cRwanda is our second home, so it is important for us to join with our Rwandan brethren in commemoration, and it is something we will keep doing. We will always be there for them especially in supporting the Genocide survivors.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe learn a lot in this monthly community work; we will share out knowledge when we are back in Kenya,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>The Managing Director of KBS Ltd, Emmanuel Habanabakize said the gesture is part of ongoing initiatives to contribute to national development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe serve Rwandan people every day, they are our principal customers, therefore, it is important that we join them in the monthly community work, donate to help those citizens in need, and today we have helped in maintaining the Nyanza Genocide memorial,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Habanabakize added that they chose to work with the Kenyan community living in Rwanda with the purpose of strengthening the collaboration in sharing with them some of Rwandan cultures and patriotism. <\/p>\n<p>KBS buses operate on routes of Kanombe-Nyabugogo, Kanombe- downtown, Remera-Nyabugogo, Remera-Masaka, and
