{"id":39946,"date":"2019-09-02T10:29:47","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T10:29:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwandan-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan-join-locals\/"},"modified":"2019-09-04T09:22:38","modified_gmt":"2019-09-04T09:22:38","slug":"rwandan-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan-join-locals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwandan-peacekeepers-in-south-sudan-join-locals\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandan peacekeepers in South Sudan join locals in a community work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The peacekeepers included those serving as Formed Police Units (FPUs), Individual Police Officers (IPOs) and Rwandan military battalions deployed in Juba.<\/p>\n<p>Umuganda was organized in partnership with Juba Town Council under the theme: &#8220;Make Juba clean, safe, healthy and preserve natural ecosystem.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The communal work was also attended by the Special Representative of the Secretary General to UNMISS, David Shearer and the Mayor of Juba, Shemir Khamis.<\/p>\n<p>Other officials present included UNMISS Sector Commander for Central Equatorial, Brig. Gen Eugene Nkubito and United Nations Police (UNPOL) Chief of Staff, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Bartheremy Rugwizangoga.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise involved collecting littered wastes on streets and trenches for proper disposal and slashing bushes.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Shearer commended the big turn-up for Umuganda and thanked the Rwandan peacekeepers for instilling the spirit of volunteerism among the local communities in South Sudan. <\/p>\n<p>He paid tribute to former UNMISS Force Commander, Lt. Gen.
