The girl alerted people on patrol who intervened and took the suspect to Kanyinya police station. <\/p>\n
Article 146 of the penal code states that when a defiler is convicted, one is liable to life imprisonment. The penalty becomes life imprisonment if the victim is a child aged above ten years but less than fourteen years. <\/p>\n
The penalty becomes a term of imprisonment of not less than fifteen years but not exceeding twenty years if the victim is a child aged fourteen but not exceeding sixteen years. <\/p>\n
