{"id":39070,"date":"2019-04-01T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2019-04-01T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/disasters-claim-35-lives-destroy-2900-houses-in\/"},"modified":"2019-04-01T16:53:48","modified_gmt":"2019-04-01T16:53:48","slug":"disasters-claim-35-lives-destroy-2900-houses-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/disasters-claim-35-lives-destroy-2900-houses-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Disasters claim 35 lives, destroy 2900 houses in three months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During a talk show on new measures to prevent disasters on Radio Rwanda, Kamayirese explained that 16 of 35 victims died in mine accident, 15 died of lightening, two died of heavy rain, one died in storm waters while another died in an inferno. <\/p>\n<p>Minister Kamayirese revealed that disasters killed 104 livestock and injured 96 persons. <\/p>\n<p>Disasters also destroyed crops planted on 67000 ha, 30 power distribution poles and roads among other infrastructures. <\/p>\n<p>She said that some disasters are caused by lack of compliance with policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome disasters are caused by people themselves. If people don\u2019t respect the master plan concerning the use of land, it may result into unexpected disasters,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCitizens should be proactive.
