The Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Marie Gorette Umutesi was speaking to over 800 students of Lyc\u00e9e Notre Dame de Citeau Nyarugenge District.<\/p>\n
She advised students to study hard and avoid all forms of unhealthy lifestyles that could ruin their current and adult life.<\/p>\n
Umutesi noted that in recent times drugs such as Cannabis have been abused by the youth, especially students, and said its effect on society was worrying.<\/p>\n
He told a gathering which included teachers and administrators, that the fight against drugs especially Cannabis smoking among the youth was a shared responsibility and implored all to participate and bring the situation to an end.<\/p>\n
She explained that when one reaches the stage of addiction, the drug controls the nervous system and destabilizes it, and at this stage, the user becomes distressed which leads to various health and social hazards.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have our decision as law enforcers to ensure drugs are eliminated out of the community, we promise to sustain cracking the whip on these illegal outlets.<\/p>\n
Odele Umutoniwase, one of the students asked police and local authorities to take stern action against the importers and producers of these drinks.<\/p>\n
She thanked the police for their timely intervention on such social evil and reminded the students of their dreams to become responsible adults in the future.<\/p>\n
