It is for the third time that children in Nyagatare Prison are allowed to sit for exams. Rwanda Correctional Services Spokesperson SSP Hillary Sengabo told IGIHE that since the law allowed prisoners to sit for exams, all the children sitting for the papers have been passing well. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the third time that children have sat for national exams and all those who did them in the past, passed them,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
He added that about 55 children in jail have done the national exams in the past three years. They have all since been released on the President\u2019s clemency. <\/p>\n
The children were convicted of crimes involving rape, drug abuse, and robbery.
