{"id":38267,"date":"2018-10-03T15:56:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-03T15:56:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-celebrates-2018-world-investor-week\/"},"modified":"2018-10-03T16:25:10","modified_gmt":"2018-10-03T16:25:10","slug":"rwanda-celebrates-2018-world-investor-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-celebrates-2018-world-investor-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda celebrates 2018 World Investor Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), to which Rwanda is an associate to, prepares the second annual World Investor Week (WIW) from October 1st \u2013 7th, 2018 to promote investor education and protection and highlighting the various initiatives of securities regulators in those two areas around the globe. <\/p>\n<p>A key objective of the World Investor Week is to highlight the importance of investor education and protection, and to foster learning opportunities for investors, given today\u2019s rapidly changing environment of online and technological innovations.<\/p>\n<p>The official launch took place at the Adventist University of Central Africa on 2nd October where more 1,200 students were taught on saving and investment through capital market.<\/p>\n<p>The acting Executive Director of CMA Rwanda, Eric Bundugu said that the aim for this year\u2019s World Investor Week was to create general awareness about investor rights with respect to retail\/ individual investors on the Rwandan Capital Market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCMA plans to conducts various public education activities to create awareness among investors by disseminating information on the importance and benefits of saving and investing through the capital market and we shall emphasize mainly on embracing the savings culture aimed at promoting greater retail participation in the local capital market,\u201d stressed CMA\u2019s Acting Executive Director.<\/p>\n<p>John Uwiduhaye, a final year student at the Adventist University of Central Africa said that \u201cinvestor education is vital to ensure financial inclusion and equip young people with necessary skills as entrepreneurs of tomorrow as saving and investing through the capital market supports initiatives geared at entrepreneurship and job-creation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the 2018 World Investor Week, CMA plans to conduct various public education sessions targeting retail\/ individual investors across the country.
