{"id":38162,"date":"2018-09-12T12:44:10","date_gmt":"2018-09-12T12:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/deal-for-developing-10-000-housing-units-in\/"},"modified":"2023-11-16T13:45:51","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T13:45:51","slug":"deal-for-developing-10-000-housing-units-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/deal-for-developing-10-000-housing-units-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Deal for developing 10,000 housing units in Kigali sealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The deal signed Tuesday as World Bank Group launched the Development Finance Forum in Kigali aims at developing over 10,000 housing units in Kinyinya Sector of Gasabo District.<\/p>\n<p>President Paul Kagame opened the two-day forum that seeks to help global public and private sector leaders to explore and demonstrate strategies to boost private sector investment in East Africa\u2019s priority sectors, notably, housing, agriculture and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed financing plans to use the recently created International Development Association\u2019s IDA) Private Sector Window to mitigate risk and encourage commercial investment in the housing sector.<\/p>\n<p>The World Bank Group\u2019s statement indicates that Broad Homes envisions partnering with IFC, Rwanda Social Security Board, Development Bank of Rwanda, and BSMART Technology \u2013 a leading research, development and design firm \u2013 to develop over 10,000 housing units which consist of residential and commercial units.<\/p>\n<p>The units are expected to benefit nearly 50,000 members of the Kinyinya community.  The total project cost is estimated to be over $200 million.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, said the deal is a boost to Rwanda\u2019s housing sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHabitat harmonisation is part of the Seven-Year Government Programme. On this, we are partnering with the World Bank.
