{"id":38101,"date":"2018-08-30T10:30:00","date_gmt":"2018-08-30T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/dlamini-zuma-hails-rwanda-home-grown-solutions\/"},"modified":"2018-08-30T14:38:17","modified_gmt":"2018-08-30T14:38:17","slug":"dlamini-zuma-hails-rwanda-home-grown-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/dlamini-zuma-hails-rwanda-home-grown-solutions\/","title":{"rendered":"Dlamini Zuma hails Rwanda Home Grown Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After her visit to Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) on Wednesday, Zuma said other African countries should emulate Rwanda\u2019s model on home grown solutions if they want to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>Zuma and her delegation learnt about Rwanda\u2019s own initiatives such as Gacaca jurisdiction, Girinka (one cow per family) programme, Ubudehe categorisation of citizens basing on their financial means, and community work locally known as \u2018Umuganda\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>Others are National Leadership Retreat widely known as \u2018Umwiherero\u2019, National Dialogue (Umushyikirano), and leaders\u2019 performance contract (Imihigo), among others.<\/p>\n<p>Zuma said she and her delegation were eager to learn from Rwanda\u2019s strategy that beat odds of the genocide to set the country on the cureent development trajectory. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody has the monopoly of ideas. Everyone has ideas. We believe that the first person to learn from is your neighbour \u2014another African country which is doing well.<br \/>\nWe are here to exchange ideas, to see where things are working better and where we can adapt the ideas to our own situation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Zuma is immediate former Chairperson of African Union Commission and divorced wife of immediate former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.<\/p>\n<p>RGB CEO Prof Anastase Shyaka said the talks with visitors were instrumental for both sides, adding that Rwanda and South Africa will keep sharing ideas for the citizens\u2019 benefits. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have shared about our service delivery and institutions\u2019 collaboration.
