{"id":37803,"date":"2018-07-03T10:57:29","date_gmt":"2018-07-03T10:57:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/predictable-financing-for-peace-operations\/"},"modified":"2018-07-05T13:00:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-05T13:00:02","slug":"predictable-financing-for-peace-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/predictable-financing-for-peace-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Predictable financing for peace operations critical towards Africa\u2019s security\u2014Kagame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kagame was speaking yesterday at a working luncheon on the Financing of African Union-Led Peace Support Operations on the sidelines of African Union Heads of States and Governments Summit that was taking place in Nouakchott, Mauritania.<\/p>\n<p>The luncheon was hosted by Mauritania President Abdel Aziz.<\/p>\n<p>It was also attended by France President, Emmanuel Macron and African Union Heads of State and Government.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairperson of African Union stressed that peace support operations is a critical issue for Africa to be a stable continent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue of predictable financing for peace support operations is a critical one, as we work to ensure security and stability on our continent,\u201d Kagame said.<\/p>\n<p>He said that France is Africa\u2019s important partner in the fight against terrorism in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrance is an important partner in the fight against terrorism in Africa. This is why we are pleased to have this conversation with President Macron today, to ensure that peace operations on the continent have sufficient and sustainable funding,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>African Union has an organ called \u2018Peace and Security Council\u2019.
