{"id":37649,"date":"2018-06-06T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/bralirwa-joins-nationwide-drive-against-plastic\/"},"modified":"2018-06-06T11:11:31","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T11:11:31","slug":"bralirwa-joins-nationwide-drive-against-plastic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/bralirwa-joins-nationwide-drive-against-plastic\/","title":{"rendered":"Bralirwa joins nationwide drive against plastic pollution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The launch of distributing trash-cans took place Tuesday, 05th June, as Rwanda joined the rest of the world to mark World Environment Day- a few days after the 2018 National Environment Week during which awareness was raised  on dangers of single-use plastics.<\/p>\n<p>Staff from Bralirwa started distributing the cans in Remera, Gasabo District, in the proximity of Amahoro National Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The event also attracted officials from Rwanda Environment Management Authority (REMA) who commended the move as a creative solution towards plastic pollution in the country. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking to IGIHE, the Head of Corporate and Communications department at Bralirwa, Fred Nyangenzi, said that the initiative is in line with the government\u2019s commitment to eradicating plastic pollution in the country. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis initiative aims at backing up governmentefforts of promoting environmental awareness. It will be easy to beat plastic pollution as bottles will be having a special trash can where they will be deposited and thereafter collected for recycling,,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have other partners whom we agreed to work with in this drive against plastic pollution.
