{"id":37570,"date":"2018-05-28T11:29:15","date_gmt":"2018-05-28T11:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwandans-friends-in-south-africa-commemorate\/"},"modified":"2018-05-28T11:29:08","modified_gmt":"2018-05-28T11:29:08","slug":"rwandans-friends-in-south-africa-commemorate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwandans-friends-in-south-africa-commemorate\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandans, friends in South Africa commemorate genocide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The event took place at Johannesburg Holocaust and Genocide Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, the Ambassador of Rwanda in South Africa, Vincent Karega said that the genocide took many lives and destroyed the country.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe genocide left many effects including destroying the country, traumatized people and dark history to the country. We thank leaders and Rwandans who continue to collaborate in developing solutions to our problems, we hope that what happened before 1994, particularly the genocide against the Tutsi, will not reoccur,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>  He said that Rwandans have chosen to remember and renew as well as continuing to unite themselves through forgiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Karega thanked survivors for heroism, resilience and forgiveness and requested countries which have genocide suspects to bring them to book. <\/p>\n<p>At the event, the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre Head, Freddy Mutanguha revolved around the history of genocide, on how it was prepared and implemented.
