{"id":37462,"date":"2018-05-11T12:48:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-11T12:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/us-donates-rwf43-million-for-disaster-relief-in\/"},"modified":"2018-05-11T12:48:30","modified_gmt":"2018-05-11T12:48:30","slug":"us-donates-rwf43-million-for-disaster-relief-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/us-donates-rwf43-million-for-disaster-relief-in\/","title":{"rendered":"US donates Rwf43 million for disaster relief in Rwanda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the visit on Thursday, Vrooman was received by Minister Jeanne d\u2019Arc Debonheur.<\/p>\n<p>MIDIMAR statement says that Vrooman extended his condolences to the Government of Rwanda especially to the families whose members have been killed by the recent disasters. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cThrough the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), we have authorised over Rwf43 million for immediate emergency response to the destruction caused by heavy rain storms since January, 2018,\u201d Vrooman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aid was provided to CARE International Rwanda to assist the government in replacing emergency relief supplies for households in Kirehe and Rubavu Districts which are most affected by disasters,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The supplies that will be provided under the emergency funds from U.S. Government include items such as sleeping mats, saucepans, blankets, mosquito nets, mattresses for pregnant women, jerrycans and hygiene products.<\/p>\n<p>Debonheur commended US support and contribution to the well-being of the Rwandan population and those on its soil.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thank the U.S Government for their support to the Rwandans. We also commend their partnership with the Rwandan people and specifically the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees towards the mitigation of disaster effects and improving the refugees\u2019 wellbeing,\u201d Debonheur said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement says that both officials discussed the general situation of refugees in Rwanda, main challenges in humanitarian response and durable solutions for refugees issues.
