{"id":37118,"date":"2018-03-14T08:34:53","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T08:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-gdp-grew-by-6-1-in-2017\/"},"modified":"2018-03-15T17:31:09","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T17:31:09","slug":"rwanda-gdp-grew-by-6-1-in-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-gdp-grew-by-6-1-in-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda GDP grew by 6.1% in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Agriculture sector contributed 31%, industry sector 16% and services sector contributed 46%.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, agriculture production increased by 7%, industry by 4% and services by 8%.<\/p>\n<p>The NISR Director-General, Yusuf Murangwa said that the quarter four of last year contributed enough to the growth of the GDP as it increased by 10.5%, here, he said agriculture, industry and services grew remarkably. <\/p>\n<p> \u201cAgricultural growth was boosted by good harvest of food crops in season B and C to 10%, industry to 10% and services to 11%,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n<p>He said that the growth of industry sector was boosted by good production in mining and quarrying which contributed 51% and food processing industrial production grew by 16%.  <\/p>\n<p>Murangwa said that the production of textiles, clothing and leather industries grew by 19%. However, the production of industries making tobacco and beverages reduced by 8% while infrastructure was reduced by 1%.  <\/p>\n<p>Wholesaling and retailing trade grew by 19%, transport services grew by 16% and financial services grew by 14%.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-24388 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/arton90858-e6af6.jpg\" alt=\"NISR Director General Yusuf Murangwa and Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Amb.
