{"id":37062,"date":"2018-03-06T11:04:33","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T11:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/families-affected-by-heavy-rains-in-rubavu-get\/"},"modified":"2018-03-06T11:03:30","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T11:03:30","slug":"families-affected-by-heavy-rains-in-rubavu-get","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/families-affected-by-heavy-rains-in-rubavu-get\/","title":{"rendered":"Families affected by heavy rains in Rubavu get relief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to MIDIMAR, the downpour which caused Sebeya River to overflow left five people injured, 26 houses completely destroyed, 924 partially destroyed and 138.5 hectares of crops damaged and one school affected.<\/p>\n<p>While handing over the materials to affected families yesterday, the Disaster Management Coordinator at Rwanda Red Cross, Angelique Murungi said that as part of their mission to support the government in responding to disaster cases, they intervened in the case of Rubavu.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cWe brought them kitchen kits like cooking pots, cups, spoons, mats, soaps and clothes among other materials worth Rwf15 million,\u201d she said <\/p>\n<p>Affected families hailed the support saying that they had no more means to manage to live.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cMy domestic animals all died, among 58 chickens, they only remain two. I thank Red Cross for the support as we will base on it and manage to live, the remaining problem is a house as we are still accommodated in neighbors\u2019 houses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>MIDIMAR Minister, Jeanne D\u2019Arc De Bonheur said that they will extend the support to the remaining families as well as they continue to provide more support to all affected families.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cMore are yet to come, because, we know that today\u2019s support is not enough.
