{"id":37061,"date":"2018-03-06T10:47:31","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T10:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/former-prosecutor-general-to-launch-a-book-about\/"},"modified":"2018-03-07T16:57:05","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T16:57:05","slug":"former-prosecutor-general-to-launch-a-book-about","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/former-prosecutor-general-to-launch-a-book-about\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Prosecutor-General to launch a book about Victoire Ingabire\u2019s trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In December 2013, Ingabire was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the trial that attracted different arguments that she was arrested due to political reasons. <\/p>\n<p>Dubbed \u2018Qui manipule qui?\u2019, the book about the proceedings of the trial hearing will be launched on March 8th, 2018 in Kigali.<\/p>\n<p>The head of political party which is yet to be approved in the country came from the Netherlands to compete for presidency in 2010 presidential elections, but she ended up in jail after being convicted different crimes. <\/p>\n<p>She was convicted to inciting the masses to revolt against the government, forming armed groups to destabilize the country and minimizing the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.<\/p>\n<p>However, different countries and international organisations condemned the arrest saying that she was imprisoned due to political reasons and was denied some rights among others.<\/p>\n<p>The European Parliament published a report critising the independence of Rwanda\u2019s justice system and called upon to retry Ingabire\u2019s trial.<\/p>\n<p>{{About the book}}<\/p>\n<p>While speaking in an interview with IGIHE last week, Mukuralinda said that in last two years many people asked him the reason he didn\u2019t speak publicly about the trial and this made him to write a book.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cSome say that we treated her unfairly, persecuted and falsified accusations and that there was no justice,\u2026 but it is time for everyone who wish to know how things went, as Ms. Ingabire spoke about how she saw things.
