{"id":37011,"date":"2018-02-24T16:18:42","date_gmt":"2018-02-24T16:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/over-200-kigali-shanty-churches-closed\/"},"modified":"2018-02-24T16:17:54","modified_gmt":"2018-02-24T16:17:54","slug":"over-200-kigali-shanty-churches-closed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/over-200-kigali-shanty-churches-closed\/","title":{"rendered":"Over 200 Kigali shanty churches  closed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The crackdown launched this week involves evaluating places where churches operate from and consider whether they are not operating from buildings meant for residential houses, well-constructed, having toilets, parking, constructed on the surface of one hectare, having rain water harvesting systems and licensed.<\/p>\n<p>The monitoring was launched following a meeting that brought together different faith organizations and Rwanda Governance Board (RGB).<\/p>\n<p>Under the current report, IGIHE has learnt that among 480 churches that were monitored, 203  have been closed.<\/p>\n<p>In Gasabo District alone, 369 churhes have been monitored and 129 among them were closed whereas in Nyarugenge District 111 churches were monitored and 74 among them were closed over poor hygiene. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking to IGIHE, the Churches Union representative in Gasabo District, Rev.
