Claver Gatete and Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Rao Hoingwei. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Minister Gatete said that China always support Rwanda\u2019s programmes including education and infrastructural activities among others.<\/p>\n<p>He said that among the agreement signed, $16 million will go to extension of IPRC Musanze which will result in increasing the number of students they train.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRwanda intends to be a knowledge based economy, therefore education is crucial. The extension of IPRC Musanze will ensure the school meets the increasing demands of diploma education while drilling of water boreholes will contribute to the alleviation of water shortage,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The State Minister for Technical Vocational Education and Training in the Ministry of Education, Olivier Rwamukwaya said that the grant will facilitate IPRC Musanze in terms of capacity.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe grant will help to increase the number of classrooms that students will use during practice, the school will be also equipped with materials,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Upon completion, IPRC Musanze will have the capacity to enroll 1500 diploma students and 400 short-course trainees up from 560 diploma students and 180 short-course trainees.<\/p>\n<p>A total of $8 million will go to the construction of 200 boreholes which will provide water to the communities in eleven districts of Eastern Province and will serve approximately 300 to 1500 people per borehole with potable water in selected area. <\/p>\n<p>Both parties are still discussing where they will allocate the rest of the grant, but officials assure that they will decide on it in the near future.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Hoingwei said that China will continue to provide assistance in supporting different sectors of economy of Rwanda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina will continue to provide assistance in infrastructure construction, industrialization and agricultural modernization to improve the economic and social development of Rwanda,\u201d Hoingwei said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"spip-document spip-document-23903 aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/en-images.igihe.com\/jpg\/ry6b9388-2-e235c.jpg\" alt=\"Minister Gatete and  Ambassador Hoingwei  exchange documents after signing the grant.\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Government of Rwanda and China have signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation agreement under which the Chinese Government pledged to provide RMB YUAN 200 million (about USD32 million) to undertake  the extension of Integrated Polytechnic Regional Center (IPRC) Musanze and the drilling of 200 boreholes in Eastern Province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[72],"byline":[170],"hashtag":[],"class_list":["post-36901","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-featured-news-home","byline-igihe"],"bylines":[{"id":170,"name":"IGIHE","slug":"igihe","description":"","image":{"id":0,"url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/?s=96&d=mm&f=y&r=g","alt":"Default avatar","title":"Default avatar","caption":"","mime_type":"image\/jpeg","sizes":[]},"user_id":8}],"contributors":[{"id":170,"name":"IGIHE","slug":"igihe","description":"","image":{"id":0,"url":"https:\/\/secure.gravatar.com\/avatar\/?s=96&d=mm&f=y&r=g","alt":"Default avatar","title":"Default avatar","caption":"","mime_type":"image\/jpeg","sizes":[]},"user_id":8}],"featured_image":null,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/36901","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=36901"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/36901\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=36901"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=36901"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=36901"},{"taxonomy":"byline","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/byline?post=36901"},{"taxonomy":"hashtag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/hashtag?post=36901"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
