{"id":36853,"date":"2018-01-24T08:14:47","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T08:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwandans-in-the-usa-mark-the-new-year\/"},"modified":"2018-01-24T08:14:41","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T08:14:41","slug":"rwandans-in-the-usa-mark-the-new-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwandans-in-the-usa-mark-the-new-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwandans in the USA mark the New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The ambassador made the remarks on Saturday at the New Year 2018 celebration hosted by the embassy at Sheraton Hotel, Silver Spring, Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>The party attracted about 150 members of the Rwandan Diaspora community from Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, just the Tri-State closest to the embassy location. <\/p>\n<p>Amb. Mukantabana thanked the Diaspora for their efforts in staying connected to Rwanda and for actively engaging in activities that help in the development of Rwanda. <\/p>\n<p>Participants also watched the 2018 New Year message from President Paul Kagame.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst many other projects in 2017, the Rwandan Diaspora in the U.S. contributed Rwf11 million in the Community-based Health Scheme, commonly known as Mutuelle de Sant\u00e9, to help the neediest Rwandans in the country. <\/p>\n<p>Amb.
