{"id":36413,"date":"2017-12-03T09:11:09","date_gmt":"2017-12-03T09:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rnp-complete-car-south-sudan-rotation\/"},"modified":"2017-12-03T09:11:01","modified_gmt":"2017-12-03T09:11:01","slug":"rnp-complete-car-south-sudan-rotation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rnp-complete-car-south-sudan-rotation\/","title":{"rendered":"RNP complete CAR, South Sudan rotation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last deployed contingent \u2013 Protection and Support Unit (PSU) under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Hatari replaced the same number that returned home later in the afternoon under the command of ACP Barthelemy Rugwizangoga.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 660 officers were deployed to replace the same number under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) and the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).<\/p>\n<p>At least 420 officers in three contingents; two Formed Police Units (FPUs) and a PSU, each composed of 140 officers, were deployed in MUNISCA and a hybrid of 240 officers under the command of Chief Supt. Charles Butera was deployed in UNMISS.<\/p>\n<p>The departure and arrival of the PSU contingent was saluted off and received, respectively, at Kigali International Airport by Commissioner of Police (CP) Vianney Nshimiyimana.<\/p>\n<p>The national carrier, RwandAir  transported all the officers during the rotational process.<\/p>\n<p>While welcoming the returned officers, CP Nshimiyimana lauded their \u201cpatience for the whole year away from your families\u201d, but added that the \u201cduty continues back home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ACP Rugwizangoga commended the discipline, teamwork and professional conduct of the officers under his command, which \u201cwe were awarded medals for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring the one year of service, we ensured the safety and security of high profile officials like the Prime Minister, MINUSCA Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, visiting UN top officials like the Secretary General and Under-Secretary General, escort of high profile detainees and money in transit from the central bank to other financial institutions or groups,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are happy that we have come back home leaving that legacy behind that all our operations were incident-free, to which we also received formal appreciations from all these high profile officials thanking every man and woman in this contingent for the discipline and overall professionalism,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you get to CAR, the first challenge is the weather\u2026it\u2019s extremely hot. You are also operating in a relative fragile environment where ordinary people have arms, but that\u2019s the condition we were prepared to undertake.
