{"id":36312,"date":"2017-11-20T11:43:27","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T11:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/rwanda-peacekeepers-in-darfur-handover-newly\/"},"modified":"2017-11-20T11:40:52","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T11:40:52","slug":"rwanda-peacekeepers-in-darfur-handover-newly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/rwanda-peacekeepers-in-darfur-handover-newly\/","title":{"rendered":"Rwanda peacekeepers in Darfur handover newly constructed secondary school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inaugurated Nusaibah Girls Secondary School is located in AL Salaam Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDP) in Darfur, Republic of Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>The school construction project valued to $50,000 was sponsored by UNAMID Christian Followership (UCF) and implemented by Rwanda Peacekeepers (RWANBATT50) deployed in Sector North Darfur as part of the Mission\u2019s Quick Impact Projects programme. <\/p>\n<p>The project was implemented in three phases and in Phase one, RWANBATT 44 constructed two classrooms, one Office and the fence. In phase two RWANBATT 47 constructed three classrooms and one Office.  RWANBATT 50 constructed five classrooms in the last phase and the school can accommodate over 900 students. <\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the Rwanda Peacekeepers, Maj. Emery Kayumba the second in command of RWANBATT50 thanked all people who partook in the construction of the school.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the school would contribute to creating a good conducive environment for educating and empowering the girls of Darfur. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout education there\u2019s no prosperity and sustainable peace\u201d he said.<br \/>\nHe further urged the school administration, local leaders and students to do their best in order to maintain the school for their benefits and future generation.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of the School Adam SuleimanRiziq thanked the Rwanbatt50 and UNAMID Christian Fellowship for their contribution to develop education in Darfur.<br \/>\nHe said that the students were suffering from bad status of the old school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for constructing a modern school in durable materials, this school is a memory and also another opportunity to strength the relationship between the Rwandan and Darfur communities,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>On behalf of the UNAMID leadership, the Force commander Lt. Gen. Leonard M. Ngondicommended the courage and tireless efforts of Rwanda Peacekeepers and UNAMID Christian Fellowship in Darfur for constructing the school. <\/p>\n<p>He advised the students of the school to make full use of the facility to acquire education <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause it will make you what you are inspiring to be in the future; all these leaders present here were once wearing a school uniform like you in their past,\u201d he told students.<\/p>\n<p>Abdulrahaman Shanan Deputy Commission of El Fasher locality on behalf of the Commissioner of El Fasher thanked the Peacekeepers for the great job of constructing the school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe assure you that the established covenant between Rwanda and all the people of Darfur, especially to the people of Al salaam IDP camp, stays in the memories of these students endlessly. Those who don\u2019t thank people don\u2019t thank God, we thank you!\u201d He underscored.<\/p>\n<p>UNAMID dignitaries including UNAMID Force Commander Lt Gen Leonard M NGONDI from Kenya, Sector North Commander Brig Gen Mazhar Hussein, Sector North Police Commander, and Rwanda Contingent Commander Col Simon Ndamukunda graced on one hand the handover ceremony.
