{"id":36173,"date":"2017-11-01T17:16:04","date_gmt":"2017-11-01T17:16:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/what-matters-is-overall-progress-kagame\/"},"modified":"2018-11-09T10:13:34","modified_gmt":"2018-11-09T10:13:34","slug":"what-matters-is-overall-progress-kagame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/what-matters-is-overall-progress-kagame\/","title":{"rendered":"What matters is overall progress-Kagame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kagame was speaking today in the \u2018Head of State Dialogue at the Africa Global Business Forum\u2019 in Dubai<\/p>\n<p>Moderated by John Defterios, a CNN journalist in the Middle East, the conversation with president Kagame focused on the Imperative of Regional Integration in Africa<\/p>\n<p> \u201cHistory divided the continent, and this prevented Africa to be as prosperous as it should have been, now people want to cooperate in doing business and we started seeing development\u201d Kagame said. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the equilibrium of governance, the head of state said that the balance is about what the people of any country want and feel about the outcome.<\/p>\n<p>He said that even countries with old democracies still face challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocracies will always be challenged what matters is looking at the overall level of progress\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about Rwandans\u2019 role in leadership, Kagame used himself as an example of how country\u2019s leadership is founded on people\u2019s choices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people of Rwanda still call me President because in the end they are the ones who decide\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kagame was selected to participate in the dialogue as the president who championed for unity on African continent through different activities like opening borders for other foreigners in Rwanda and joining international communities.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day Africa Global Business Forum was organized by the Dubai chamber.
