{"id":3614,"date":"2012-10-20T15:10:36","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T15:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/kagame-emerges-winner-of-african-peace\/"},"modified":"2012-10-20T15:11:01","modified_gmt":"2012-10-20T15:11:01","slug":"kagame-emerges-winner-of-african-peace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/kagame-emerges-winner-of-african-peace\/","title":{"rendered":"Kagame Takes African Peace Personality of the Year Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{{President Paul Kagame has emerged winner of the African Peace personality of the Year award.}}<\/p>\n<p>Kagame was short listed with three other African personalities for the Africa Peace personality Award which was by an online voting system via the website of Miss University Africahttp:\/\/www.missuniversityafrica.org\/).<\/p>\n<p>His Excellency, Ernest Bai Koroma, President of the Republic of<br \/>\nSierra Leone, for his approach and support to unite his people and<br \/>\nheal the wounds of trauma, displacements, deaths and war in<br \/>\nSierra Leone.<\/p>\n<p>His Excellency Paul Kagame President of the Republic of Rwanda,<br \/>\nfor his ingenuity and style of leadership to unite the people of<br \/>\nRwanda and seek peaceful means to stabilize his country after the<br \/>\ngenocide.<\/p>\n<p>Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf President of the Republic of<br \/>\nLiberia, for encouraging investment and unanimously elected for<br \/>\nthe second time as president of Liberia having led her country out<br \/>\nof the ashes of a brutal civil war.<\/p>\n<p>His Excellency, Chief Olesugun Obasanjo Former President,<br \/>\nFederal Republic of Nigeria, for his efforts to restore peace in<br \/>\nAfrica most especially the West African Sub region<\/p>\n<p>The vote which lasted 41 days had His Excellency President Paul<br \/>\nKagame with a total vote of 817,201 (eight hundred and seventeen<br \/>\nthousand two hundred and one) as the highest score of the four<br \/>\nshortlisted.<\/p>\n<p>The countries that voted his Excellency the most were: Rwanda, Ghana,<br \/>\nLiberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Uganda. most of the comments<br \/>\nposted were &#8220;the manner in which President Kagame handled the Hutus and Tutsis crisis in Rwanda demands the loudest applause<br \/>\nworldwide&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Taylor who is one of the managers of  Miss University<br \/>\nAfrica, He personally remember during a visit to Liberia when they met<br \/>\nwith president Ellen Johnson of Liberia, after He told her about the<br \/>\nvotes and award she said &#8220;What President Kagame has done in Rwanda<br \/>\nis very commendable, Rwanda is like a mentor to Liberia as we have a<br \/>\nlot to learn from them especially coming out of a civil war&#8221; to him, for<br \/>\nan African leader to speak in such volume about Rwandan President<br \/>\nclearly states why he won this award from the rest of Africa\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Organizers of Miss University Africa intend to fly to Rwanda with<br \/>\nthis award which will have His Excellency name engraved on crystal.<br \/>\nCongratulations to our President and Congratulations to All Rwandans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>{{President Paul Kagame has emerged winner of the African Peace personality of the Year award.}} Kagame was short listed with three other African personalities for the Africa Peace personality Award which was by an online voting system via the website of Miss University Africahttp:\/\/www.missuniversityafrica.org\/).
