{"id":35939,"date":"2017-09-28T22:09:13","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T22:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/eac-prosecutors-called-upon-to-bring-genocide\/"},"modified":"2017-09-29T15:23:57","modified_gmt":"2017-09-29T15:23:57","slug":"eac-prosecutors-called-upon-to-bring-genocide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.igihe.com\/english\/eac-prosecutors-called-upon-to-bring-genocide\/","title":{"rendered":"EAC prosecutors called upon to bring genocide suspects to book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All five EAC countries\u2019 prosecutor generals are in Kigali for a yearly meeting where<br \/>\nMutangana reminded them that Rwanda still has a problem of Genocide suspects still at large, many of who are in the EAC countries.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are many suspects especially in Uganda and Kenya. These countries differ from European countries that have every individual\u2019s identity on their land, it is easy to be tracked and arrested from there. But in our region, a person moves from one country to another without travel documents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mutangana, the meeting is an opportunity to remind and request the top justice officials in EAC to extradite genocide suspects and face justice. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remind them to extradite the suspects t o Rwanda or prosecute them in the host countries.
