The move was announced on Wednesday by the state minister for TVET, Olivier Rwamukwaya during the launch of practical examinations for senior six leavers.
\nSpeaking about the new approach, Rwamukwaya said that it will benefit students in getting diverse skills as well as having their certifications. <\/p>\n
\u201cStarting from next academic year, students will annually sit for national examinations and get certificates. This is in line with new curriculum that we started to implement in this academic year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said that from senior four, students are categorized to the extent that every student who completes one category has such skills that earn him a certificate and enable him compete on the labor market.<\/p>\n
He said that in the new approach, students will be able to master a field in which they will get thorough knowledge and experience. The vice-head teacher in charge of academics at Saint\u2013Joseph Integrated Technical Nyamirambo, Adrien Musabiyinema said that the feedback from construction company owners indicate that they are satisfied with the performance of TVET graduates.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost construction companies employ students who have graduated in this school; we receive positive feedback from owners of these companies that our students perform well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A total of 21,935 are doing TVET exam countrywide, among who 9,948 are female.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Starting from next year all students from senior four, five and six in Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) will conduct yearly national examinations and get a certificate for each level that will allow them to compete on the job market.
