This year, the festival, traditionally sponsored by OCP Group, is celebrating its 40th anniversary and paying tribute to a Rwandan film by name of “The Belgian , in order to strengthen cooperation links between Moroccan and Rwandan film industry and to open up opportunities for discussion between Rwandan filmmakers and their Moroccan counterparts.<\/p>\n

The festival that started on 9th of this month will end on 16th. Its main purpose is to promote African cinema and cultural promotion.<\/p>\n

This year, the festival pays tribute to Rwandan culture through the performance of Rwandan artistes like Jules Sentore and more Rwandan film stars.<\/p>\n

Among others invitees that are showcasing the Rwandan culture in the festival is the book writer Mukasonga Scholastique who wrote \u2018Notre Dame du Nil\u2019. <\/p>\n

Through her works; Mukasonga showcased the soul of Rwanda by depicting hearts of men and women rooted in a land with a history and a culture full of tragedy and heroism. It is through her raw retelling that she paints a hopeful renaissance of a more serene future.<\/p>\n

“Most of my books are dedicated to the memory of the genocide. It is a duty to remember so that the victims do not fall into oblivion, “said the novelist during a conference held in the festival.<\/p>\n

The festival, traditionally sponsored by OCP Group, is celebrating its 40th anniversary and paying tribute to Rwandan film, in order to strengthen cooperation links between Moroccan and Rwandan film industry leaders and to open up opportunities for discussion between Rwandan filmmakers and their Moroccan counterparts.<\/p>\n

OCP Group officials told IGIHE that they invested money in this 40-year-old Festival in order to contribute to the establishment of African own identity around the world through culture.<\/p>\n

The festival is attended by cinema experts from 14 African countries competing for the main award in the event. <\/p>\n

Competitors are from Senegal, Mozambique, Ghana, Banin, Mali, Algerie, Soth Africa, Burkina Fasso, Togo, Uganda, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Rwanda.<\/p>\n
