BBC win Playoffs Championship title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{Determined to restore themselves as champions, the Patriots Basketball Club faced off national basketball champions Rwanda Energy Group (REG) to lift the 2017 playoffs championship trophy.}<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday before an exultant crowd at Petit Amahoro stadium, Patriots put the last dab of polish on a gilded season by surging to defeat REG Basketball club by a 3-1 in the best of five series.<\/p>\n<p>REG started on a good note, winning the first game by 82-75 power, however, they could not maintain the momentum, which gave Patriots BBC the opportunity to bounce back in the second game to win by 83-77 points before sealing off the victory in the next three games, 64-54, and 56-52 respectively. <\/p>\n<p>In a 4th game played on Saturday, Rwanda international Kami Kabange scored a game high 21 points for REG, but it was not enough to save the day for Jean Bahufite\u2019s side.<br \/>\nHenry Mwinuk\u2019es side was determined to win the playoffs having lost the national basketball title to REG. <\/p>\n<p>Patriots upcoming youngsters SedarSagamba scored 18 points, Aristide Mugabe added another 10 points to a comprehensive 3-1 series success.<br \/>\nAfter the game, Patriots captain Mugabe told IGIHE that even though they lost the first game, it prompted them to work hard in the other games. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe happy to win playoffs trophy for our fans because the year was going to end without winning any title.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former champions Espoir claimed the third place at the expense of IPRC- Kigali.<br \/>\nMen\u2019s team of the year: Aristide Mugabe (Patriots), Benjamin Mukengerwa (REG), DieudonneNdizeye (IPRC- Kigali), Olivier Shyaka (Espoir) and Kami Kabange.<br \/>\nIn the women&#8217;s category, APR basketball club was crowned the champion after facing off IPRC-South to complete a 3-0 series victory in the best of three. <\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s: Sandra Kantore (APR), Chloe Rothman (Ubumwe), Nicole Urwibutso (UR- Huye), Hope Butera (The Hoops Rwanda) and Charlotte Umugwaneza (APR).<br \/>\nChampions, both Patriots, and APR walked away from with trophy, gold medals
